[Say that as much as you like, you aren't going to garner any sympathy from Groot. As far as he's concerned, they're the same entity. Sometimes Bruce is just greener, that's all.]
There is a human in your care. He calls himself Ian.
Groot wishes to meet with him. When he does, you will look the other way.
[There's something to be said about Groot's way of thinking, because for many people, that is how they see Bruce. For some, it's Bruce's way, that there are two of them. It's an interesting dichotomy.]
He is his own being and comes and goes as he pleases. He doesn't live here full time. However, if you'd like to meet with him, I'd let him know you want to talk to him when I see him next, you could do so, and I would give you privacy. If you plan to hurt or torture him, I can't let you do that.
[He had said as much to Sherlock - even if he hated the Technicians, he couldn't see it in himself to kill or torture them. He believed that if they could break out of the barrier and get down to the Technicians, they would spill what they knew because that would be the end of it. No more experiment. Possibly no more luck at all.]
[Glare. Bruce lets out a breath, not at all like being called that name, and tries to 'talk' some logic back at Groot.]
I see that we have a source of information that has willingly been giving us information and is now trapped here as well. Torturing him does nothing. He is already proving information. He deserted the Technicians and is a prisoner like us, even more at risk because the Technicians can't be happy about him spilling what info he does know. What does torture get you? Some kind of petty revenge? I would think you were above that.
[Logic and a small snipe at Groot's honor, hoping that one or the other might back the angry tree off.]
Killing a human is no large task, it happens here all the time, and clearly you aren't keeping an eye on him. If the technicians were truly angry that he is giving us information, then the gas we rescued him from initially would have been deadly.
The fact that he is still alive means one of two things: He is a plant, sent here to give us information that is either false or intentionally leaked, with the goal of misleading or placating us.
Or someone who is calling the shots still cares about him for some reason.
Bruce. My name is Bruce. I don't call you Tree, because that isn't your name.
I'm not such a fool as to believe he couldn't be feeding us false information, nor that it's strange that the Technicians haven't killed him yet. However, he somehow managed to escape their sights for possibly months, so if he legitimately escaped from them, he most likely is capable of doing it again. If he is a plant among us, it would be a terrible way of going about it as none of the information he's spoken of so far has been particularly helpful towards escape, though has some things to back up what he's said - like the original names of the towns.
...Why do you think someone higher up would care about him?
[Good thing this is through text because scoooowl.]
…If you need this broken down, when you see green, you can call him whatever you want to call him. I'm Bruce.
[Someone is slipping a bit on their control. Thankfully, the bracelet means that it really doesn't matter at the moment, but after almost a year in the Box, he's learning how to actually have some brighter emotions again.]
…I know Loretta. Well, I know her name and I've spoken to her. She was the one who dealt with the documents scenario.
[And the one who told Sherlock, John, and himself that she could get the cure into the water for the Box and cure the animals and plants.]
Why not start by asking information on her? Torturing may very well bring her wrath down upon you, if this is true.
I simply believe Groot is more intelligent than to leap to the most debased form of getting information. That you can try other ways first and be able to actually prove whether or not Ian is in fact lying. If he tells you information A, B, and C just person to person, and you decide in time that he's probably lying and need to.. do more, and he tells you X, Y, and Z, you'll know nothing he said can be trusted.
But if you just go straight for it, you'll have nothing to compare what he says to and know whether or not he's telling the truth or all lies. Maybe the Technicians have scrambled his mind and nothing he tells you, with or without hurting him, is true because that's all he knows. Maybe he's been programmed to tell lies under torture. You know all of these things are possible.
Whether or not he is lying is a moot point. As you said, he hasn't given us any information that actually aids an escape attempt. He is either useless or he is mollifying us. In either case, his words are not worth paying attention to.
All of the things you've said are possible, yes.
It is also possible that Groot will find out a great deal, and Groot will not be denied because you are afraid something might not work.
It isn't about being afraid or not. It is about not becoming as low as the Technicians we are captured by. They torture us for information. Information of the body, of pain and twisted things. I don't want to see any of us sink so low as to do the same for information. We are not them!
If you do this, Groot, I certain that you will regret it somehow. I don't mean it as a personal threat, but you, and possibly the whole Box, will suffer for no gain. The Technicians did it once with the documents and that was something small.
One last thing, Groot. This is a warning that even if you don't fear what they'll do, there is one thing you need to remember.
They can erase your memories. Entirely or in part. They killed Sherlock and erased his memories when he dared to go against them. If you're right, whoever is keeping him alive might do that and worse.
[Bruce rubs his forehead. All he can do now, since Groot won't listen to reason, is find Ian before Groot - if he can.]
I have nothing more to say to you, but I hope you prove yourself better than them.
[With that, Bruce wishes more than ever Ian had a phone, but at the same time, he has no idea if Groot is waiting for him to rush out and go to Ian to learn where the other man is. He doesn't forgive Ian for what the man's helped to do, but at the same time, he knows torture is only going to make hell rain upon them all.
Possibly literally. He had to hope Ian would show up soon.]

His photograph was on a desk inside the facility. He was with a woman, whom Groot also believes to be a technician.
Groot suspects that this woman is the one called Loretta.
[Honestly, Groot half wants to torture Ian because it might provoke her into doing something stupid.]
