[Bruce's Notes on the Box - Last Updated September 20th]

[These notes are in physical form in the form of loose paper held together. Bruce's handwriting is neat, sharp, clear, but the entire set of notes is encoded, and the coding changes each time Bruce has to add notes. Dates are based IN GAME, so since we lost a year, there is no 2014. Things in italics are less neat, clearly Bruce adding a quick 'personal' note versus his more neatly written factual notes.

Knowns

• Death
  • Non-permanent
  • Bodies brought back to condition of entrance to the Box
  • Death is permanent, but we are in fact being cloned. Clones, in general, are kept up to date in the form of tattoos, scarring, etc. [corrected 06/15]
  • Memories retained of death up to moment of death [corrected 01/06]
  • Body of victim remains even after death and 'rebirth' unless collected by the Technicians [added to 06/15]
  • Tattoos, scars, and other permanent marks are put onto the 'new' bodies
    • These new marks are not perfect replications of the original!
    • Marks are capable of being aged appropriately.
• Time
  • The Technicians are able to capture and return people from and to very specific, down to the second, points of time, but do not have a perfect record of taking from the same universe each time.
• Space
  • The Box is roughly 6.5 miles wide and 13 miles long and 1 mile high. Approximately an additional 10 feet or so was added to each side to enclose more trees after the fire of August, 2015
  • This is not the same 'space' that the Box originally occupied, which was smaller. It can grow.
  • The Box extends downwards, multiple floors beneath the Earth. Depth: unknown.
  • Where everyone lives is called "The Killing Floor"
• The Barrier
  • Unable to be broken by any physical means.
  • An 'electric' field.
  • Able to be expanded.
  • Capable of blocking any outside force and cut off any human or inhuman ability from reaching outside of the Box.
  • On 01/01 - the barrier was down for certain, due to electrical problems. It is being generated somewhere underground in the facility!
  • Attempting to phase through the barrier results in the person exploding. Bloodily.
    • Rippled at point of impact, revealing hexagon shaped plates, blood 'evaporated' off.
• Purpose of the Box
  • This 'Box' is used to contain readily available sacrifices for rituals for supposed gods beings of a higher power, like a cult. [corrected and confirmed 7/15]
  • The 'Beings' are asleep, and the Box and the deaths are being used to keep them asleep. [confirmed 9/15]
• People in the Box
  • There have been people (Jamison) who have been located here for a decade or more.
  • All people within the Box are considered 'characters' to those who are the technicians - minus those who were previously technicians. [removed as fact 6/15]
  • People of the Box must fulfill a specific part of the ritual for the ritual to be considered successful. Five people for the ritual, with the Virgin last. The original ritual seems to have been heavily modified and now only deaths of certain numbers are required, but there still seem to be some form of restrictions. [corrected 7/15]
• Our Captors - The Technicians
  • At least some of them are Human. All known Technicians to date are Human. [corrected 7/15]
  • There are three ex-technicians being kept prisoner within the Box - Wendy Lin (chemist), Stephen Hadley (unknown, dead/missing), and a third male unknown.
  • Are constantly spying on us by unknown means.
  • Successfully put all prisoners of the Box into statis for exactly one year. [confirmed 7/15]
  • They have become so lost that the Technicians enjoy when a 'hard' target goes down. Meaning one who has resisted dying dies, or when someone finally snaps? Unknown.
• The Technician's System
  • They have the following departments:
    • ZOO - zoological [confirmed]
    • CTL - control [confirmed]
    • ENV - environment [confirmed]
    • SPL - supplies [confirmed]
    • ENG - engineering [confirmed]
    • BOT - botanical [confirmed]
    • ELC - electrical [confirmed]
    • D&M - development and maintenance [confirmed]
    • BIO - biology or biochemistry [confirmed as one of the two, headed by Loretta]
    • ??? - processing [confirmed, Loretta is or was part of this]
    • GEN - ?poss. in charge of body disposal or even cloning?
    • TCH - ?poss. technology, but seems to deal more in diseases?
    • CLN - ?clinic/clinical?
    • SUP - ?poss. other term for supplies?
  • Capable of massive stasis of all occupants of the Box at a time. We really were missing a year of our lives. Staged our return.
  • We were each brought here for a purpose. This may be due to the restrictions still on the killings, but there is a reason.
  • All prisoners of the Box have a number based on their time of arrival. Unknown if you take the number of yourself if you were here previously, or another of 'yourself' if one of them was here previously.

    • 0031, 0054 - Shepard and Erik/Magneto [unknown which is which]
    • 0142, 0083, and 0049 - All three have attempted, between 01/01 and 2/01, to get through or around the barrier. Possibly an unknown, Jamie [Blue Beetle] and Impulse.

  • Supplies runners are able to come out into the killing floor from below.
  • Each round of things designed to kill us is considered a 'scenario'. All prisoners of the Box are 'subjects'.
  • Some scenarios less a means of killing and more a means of testing for future scenarios.
  • The Technicians are not just willing to punish each other via throwing them in here with us, but also outright termination. I doubt any one leaves this business alive or with their memories at the very least.
  • Monters are being kept below, in creation or maintained: [confirmed 9/15]

  • There is some sort of 'eleventh hour failsafe' - possibly on the monsters or on all scenarios [confirmed 9/15]
  • The Technicians have gained so little ground against these 'Beings' that they believe this is the only way to go, now.
  • Sometimes, people are removed from the Box because they are no longer considered 'cost effective'. [confirmed 9/15]
• Notes on Specific Tech Scenarios
  • The 'Crazy Rain', where my previous-self went insane and killed more than I want to think about, was product testing.
  • All of December might have been a way to test new Technicians or just getting desperate from a lack of supplies.
  • Knocking us all out on New Years Eve was a way for them to get their supplies built back up, not a real scenario.
  • Kevin was most likely not a planned scenario. Kevin was a project of theirs that was scraped and terminated after we captured him.
  • The Eclipse in February was possibly an ENG test to figure out how to stop any subject's powers if necessary.
  • The vines were another test scenario to see if something they had created worked, not an actual designed scenario for their 'quota'
  • The damned flowers and bugs in March proved their most successful yet. Glad to know they were cheering us on as we died.
  • Kevin and the channel dogs have similar, triple helixed DNA - Ian's creation [former confirmed by Sherlock, latter confirmed 9/15]
  • The 'accidental' spread pathogen in the hotel is called by the Technicians XC0172. [confirmed by John 06/15]
• Outside of the Box - This World
  • The world outside of the Box seems to have gone through some sort of apocalypse 'end of the world' situation.
  • There are caches hidden by survivors around the world, possibly other Technician sites as we know from Wendy there are others out there. Supply cache was discovered by Technicians somewhere roughly in New Jersey.
  • Technicians seem to be hiring anyone that they can, as the documents confirmed, but it also seems that it is so bad outside of the Box/Facility that people are willing to kill others just to not be out there and 'not think about what we were really doing'.
  • The Apocalypse
    • Began approximately 13-15 years ago. Ian graduated roughly when it occurred, American so most likely age of 22, now between 35-37
    • Began in Europe. [perspective based confirmation]
    • Things outside started with mass killings and city destruction, but people seemed to mostly ignore it until it came to them.

Theories

• Location
  • North America, 45-50 degrees latitude.
• The Barrier
  • Able to be turned on and off at will by our captors. [confirmed as true 07/15]
  • Is technology, magic, or a mix of the two.
  • May be the source of collecting energy from the deaths.
• Control Over Others
  • Our captors are capable of erasing our memories with perfect accuracy
  • They have drugs either unknown to current medical science or not of this world
• Purpose of the Box
  • This is a ritual, used to control, appease, or favor a god.
    • Whether or not a part played by a particular captive in the Box is capable of being changed or not, or if the technicians even know the exact part of each person is unknown.
  • This is a way to collect pieces of people (Tony's tech, Bruce's blood, Cap's serum, etc)
    • They are collecting it for a reason.
  • They are doing this for no reason, only because they can.
    • That this is some form of entertainment.
